چکیده

Abstract Background Task-specific checklists and global rating scales are both recommended assessment tools to provide constructive feedback on surgical performance. This study evaluated the most effective tool by comparing effects of Observational Clinical Human Reliability Analysis (OCHRA) Objective Structured Assessment Technical Skills (OSATS) performance in relation visual-spatial ability learners. Methods In a randomized controlled trial, medical students were allocated either OCHRA (n = 25) or OSATS group. Visual-spatial was measured Mental Rotation Test. Participants performed an open inguinal hernia repair procedure simulation model twice. Feedback provided after first procedure. Improvement blindly using scale (performance score) hand-motion analysis (time path length). Results Mean improvement score not significantly different between groups (P = .100). However, mean time (371.0 ± 223.4 vs 274.6 341.6; P = .027) length (53.5 42.4 34.7 39.0; .046) greater When stratified mental rotation test scores, .032) .053) observed only among individuals with low abilities. Conclusion A task-specific is more improving skills terms novices compared (OSATS). The present mostly lower

Procedure-specific postoperative pain management.

Procedure-specific postoperative pain management guidelines arguably are more helpful to the clinician than general pain guidelines or guidelines based on the use of the Oxford League Tables. Two sources, the United States Veteran's Health Administration and the European Prospect Working Group, offer websites that include surgical procedure-specific postoperative pain management guidelines, whi...

Percutaneous radiofrequency sympathicolysis versus surgical standard procedure.

We read with interest the recently published paper by Purtuloglu et al. [1]. It retrospectively compared a group of patients treated with surgical sympathectomy with another group who received percutaneous radiofrequency ablation therapy. First, we would like to comment on their final conclusion, particularly on two issues: (i) the amazing statement that they have published ‘the first clinical ...

Learning task-specific similarity

The right measure of similarity between examples is important in many areas of computer science. In particular it is a critical component in example-based learning methods. Similarity is commonly defined in terms of a conventional distance function, but such a definition does not necessarily capture the inherent meaning of similarity, which tends to depend on the underlying task. We develop an ...

the effect of normative feedback on throwing aiming task learning in 9-11-year-old children

normative feedback is a kind of feedback which involves information about an individual's performance in comparison with other peers unrealistically (positive or negative). the aim of the present study was to determine the effect of normative feedback on throwing aiming task learning in children aged between 9 and 11 in ahvaz city. for this purpose, 90 right-handed children were selected w...

Learning Task-specific Bilexical Embeddings

We present a method that learns bilexical operators over distributional representations of words and leverages supervised data for a linguistic relation. The learning algorithm exploits lowrank bilinear forms and induces low-dimensional embeddings of the lexical space tailored for the target linguistic relation. An advantage of imposing low-rank constraints is that prediction is expressed as th...
